   Iceboaters,
Lake Niegocin in Gizycko, Poland is the official site for 2013 European Championship.

Since we have compareable ice conditions both in Sweden and Poland (with small advantage in Sweden) I decided for Gizycko which has much better wind forecast for the whole coming week.

Iceboaters,
first the good news. We have hard sailable snowice (little bumby both places) in Poland and Sweden. Further cold temperatures and almost no snow are forcasted as well at both places. This is comfortable position to take a decision from. What changed significantly from yesterday is the windforcast.  Don't just look at the forcast, look at how quick it changes. At the moment the windforcast for Monday for example in Mariestad is half of what it was yesterday. A "High Pressure" system seems to hit at the beginning of the week. According to Today's Outlook we could have several sunny and cold days on the ice there with no wind at all. This is from todays point of view. In Poland the windforcast is better. I understand that most of you like to sail already at the weekend, but the races are scheduled for Monday until Friday.  Yesterday Sweden  was ahead and today it is Poland. With rapidly changing weather forcasts I don't think an early decision will help us to get the races in from monday on. Please be patient and lets follow the weather development one more day.  With a decision, taking tomorrow, all of you will have at least all Sunday and most of you even Saturday for practice. Of course we'll try to inform you earlier than tomorrow, if we can, please check here every other hour today.
See you soon JoerG-737

Iceboaters!
Today several lakes have been checked. The decision where the European Championship will be held is open at the moment. Today Attila is checkin the same lakes in Poland, while I arrived yesterday in Sweden and currently checking three spots there.  We rely on safe ice with a goo surface and a good forcast for the beginning of next week (first race will be on monday). It is too early to decide between Sweden and Poland right now. Latvia is no longer an option. We hope that by tomorrow noon we know more.
Stay tuned!

Regatta / Lake Baikal, Siberia 2013 Schedule
« on: October 08, 2012, 08:29:45 AM »
Dear Iceboaters,
those of you interested in going to Lake Baikal 2013 should take in early decision. The Cup of Asia will be held from April 5th-7th and the Cup of Baikal from April 8th-12th. The ice then is usually more than 1 Meter thick and the surface usually clear due to warm weather. Flights to Irkutsk can be arranged individually. There will be a shuttle to the Lake (6 hour drive). To ship the euipment down  a container, leaving from Germany or another country (if time permitts directly from the site where the Europeans will take place) will also be arranged. If it has to  leave before the Europens, or directly after will be determined until 1st of December. It will be returned at teh beginning of May.
After attending last year I can say that it was an experience of a lifetime!
Since there will be limited space in the container I need to know who is planning on going. Please state if you are definetely going or just considering  to go. Considered costs for tranport at the moment are less than 500,-€ per boat. Please send me a mail and I will put you on the list. It is just to see who is interested and who is certain already, since we have to set up a waiting list for the container. Of course you can ship down your boat down with other means yourself. In December we need to know, if you are really going or not. I will get back to you then.
